You decide on your setup, whether that is a digital audio workstation on your laptop or a physical instrument like a keyboard, guitar or drum kit, and grab a decent pair of headphones so you catch the details. Then you simply play. Mix and match sounds, try a few chords, hit record and see where your instincts lead. There is no right or wrong at this stage, only the pleasure of listening back and following what feels good.
