Share the Joy of Plant Letters!

Make sure to add this project to your agenda and share it with someone who would enjoy it!

Gather Your Supplies

To begin, you'll need some simple supplies. Make sure you have:

  • Paper or a notebook
  • A pen or pencil
  • Optional: colored pencils or markers for illustration

Set these up in a comfortable space, ideally near your plants.

Observe Your Plants

Spend a few quiet moments with your houseplants. Observe their leaves, stems, and overall appearance. Consider their growth, any new leaves or flowers, and how they appear in their spot.

Ask yourself questions like:

  • What do these plants experience throughout the day?
  • What might they think about their environment?
  • How do they interact with sunlight, water, and people?

Start Writing

Begin by addressing the letter as if it's from one or more of your plants. For example:

Dear [Your Name],

I wanted to share a little about my life on your windowsill...

Imagine their feelings, their needs, and any 'advice' they might have for you. Be as whimsical or as detailed as you like!

Reflect on the Process

Once you've finished the letter, read it back to yourself. Reflect on how it feels to imagine a different perspective. Consider any insights you gained about plant care or how you might think differently about your plant's needs.

This reflection can also be a jumping-off point for more creative activities, like drawing your plants' imagined personalities.

Share Your Letter

If you're feeling proud of your creation, consider sharing it with a friend who is also a plant lover. You might inspire them to try this activity, too!
