A day at the Reeuwijkse Plassen: cycling, sailing, and birdwatching
8 h1 stop Calm
Water, meadows, and the Groene Hart all around you. Make a full day of it, active or completely relaxed.
The Reeuwijkse Plassen is the kind of place where you can spend an entire day without ever feeling like you have to do anything. Cycle or walk along the shores through the Groene Hart, head out on the water by sailboat or canoe, or simply sit still and watch the cormorants and purple herons.
This playbook strings together the best moments of the day. You start easy with a route along the water, then choose whether to get active on the lake or stick to nature watching, and finish up on a terrace overlooking the plassen. A day that ends up exactly as busy or as calm as you want it to be.
Route stops

Start with a bike ride or walk around the plassen. Routes are available in various distances, all through the Groene Hart and along the shores.
Feeling active? Get out on the water. Sailing, rowing, canoeing, and windsurfing are all possible on the plassen.
