A crooked frame stands out more than you might think, and a hole in the wrong spot is drilled before you know it. With a little preparation and the right tools, you can hang your photos and paintings straight and at the right height the first time around.
In this playbook, you start by getting your materials ready and measuring everything out before you drill or hammer. Measure twice, cut once: mark with a pencil, check with a spirit level, and only then hang it up. That way you end up with a wall you actually enjoy looking at, instead of crooked frames that keep bothering you.

Get your materials ready: a tape measure, pencil, hammer, nails or screws, wall hooks, and a spirit level.
Determine the height and position. Measure it out and mark with a pencil where the top of the frame and the hook will go.
Suggestion: For most frames, the centre sits at eye level, around 145 centimetres.Drill or hammer at the marked points and attach the wall hooks.
Hang your frame and place the spirit level on top. Adjust until it hangs straight.
