Een slim huis hoeft niet in de cloud te wonen. Met Home Assistant, een open source platform, bedien je je lampen, sensoren en apparaten vanaf een klein kastje op je bureau: de Raspberry Pi. Je hebt weinig nodig, een Pi 3 of 4, een microSD-kaart en een stabiele internetverbinding.
Je schrijft het image naar de kaart, prikt hem in de Pi en zet de stroom erop. De Pi start zelf op en laadt het systeem. Daarna open je een browser, verbind je met het welkomstscherm en begin je met instellen. Vanaf dat moment is jouw huis een stukje slimmer en zit jij aan de knoppen.

Get ready: a Raspberry Pi (model 3B, 3B+ or 4), a microSD card of at least 32 GB, a card reader with writing software such as balenaEtcher, and a stable internet connection.
Download the Home Assistant image for the Raspberry Pi from the official website home-assistant.io.
Write the image with balenaEtcher to your SD card and carefully select the correct drive so you don't lose any data.
Insert the card into the Pi and connect the power supply. The Pi starts up automatically and loads Home Assistant.
On the same network, go to http://homeassistant.local:8123, see the welcome screen, and start setting up.
