Gent draagt zijn geschiedenis openlijk. Je begint bij de Graslei en de Korenlei, waar de gevels zich in de Leie spiegelen en de koffie het lekkerst smaakt met uitzicht op het water. Trek stevige schoenen aan, want de kasseien in het oude centrum vragen erom.
Van daar wandel je naar de Sint-Baafskathedraal, waar het Lam Gods hangt, en klim je in het twaalfde-eeuwse Gravensteen voor uitzicht over de daken. Tussendoor lunch je in een van de kleine zaken rond de burcht, maak je een boottocht op de Leie, en eindig je met een Belgisch biertje in een bruin café. Een volle dag, maar op je eigen tempo.

Suggestion: Early in the morning it's quietest here and most beautiful for photos.Continue to Sint-Baafskathedraal and take your time with the Lamb of God and the gothic space.
Climb through the Gravensteen, the medieval castle in the middle of the city, for the views and the museum inside.
Suggestion: Wear comfortable shoes for the cobblestones and the stairs.Have lunch at one of the spots around the castle and taste some local dishes before moving on.
Take a boat trip on the Leie and see the city from the water.
End the day with a Belgian beer in a cozy brown café.
