The first truly warm day of the year feels like a gift. Just when you thought winter would never end, terrace season swings open and you can sit outside for hours again without a jacket. This playbook is built around that moment. You pick one unread book, one terrace that catches the sun, and a few hours with your phone on silent. No agenda, no stubborn to-do list.
The idea is simple: one book, one spot, one long afternoon. You order something to drink, open the first page, and let the city hum around you. In between, you can daydream or watch the cyclists go by. By the end of the afternoon you will have read a hundred pages, discovered a terrace, and officially opened the season. A small ritual you can repeat every single year.

Walk into a bookshop or order a title online that intrigues you. Not a book you have been going back and forth on for months, pick something new.
Suggestion: Under three hundred pages works better for a single afternoon.Cycle or walk past three terraces before you sit down. Choose the one where the sun sticks around the longest.
Suggestion: The south or west side of a street catches the afternoon sun.Order something to drink, put the book on the table, and open the first page.
Put your phone on silent and tuck it in your bag. The afternoon does not need you on a screen.
Mark a line that moves you. At the end you will know why this book stayed with you.
Suggestion: A pencil line in the margin is faster than writing a note.Finish the last sip, look around, and take in the fact that the season is officially open.

- - Doe het in een park op een kleed in plaats van op een terras.
