Walk among earthen waves
We explore the largest landscape artwork in the Netherlands, where rolling grass dunes and shell paths evoke the lost Zuiderzee.

The largest landscape artwork in the Netherlands rolls like a sea of grass
In 1982, Piet Slegers brought the lost Zuiderzee back to the polder: five hectares of rolling grass hills and blue-grey shell paths. Two footbridges lead you into the artwork, after which you wander freely among the earthen waves. A serene spot where you can literally feel that you are standing on the old seabed.

Aardzee turns a polder into a landscape of rolling grass hills and shell paths. We wander freely across the old seabed on a quiet Saturday morning.
