Walking through heather and peat bogs
On Sunday morning we walk well-marked trails through heather, past peat bogs and birch forests. Keep an eye out for the Drenthe Heath Sheep and the shepherds who still tend them.

Western Europe's largest area of wet heathland in Drenthe, turning purple in late August. Well-marked trails wind through heather, past peat bogs, and through birch forests. The shepherds with their Drenthe Heath Sheep flock are a living tradition.
