Slot Loevestein
Poederoijen, Gelderland
Waar Hugo de Groot ontsnapte in een boekenkist.
A 14th-century castle at the confluence of the Maas and Waal rivers, famous as the prison from which Hugo Grotius escaped in a book chest in 1621. The castle's isolated position on the waterline defense makes the approach by ferry part of the adventure.
