A real play farm: playing with water, sand and grass
Speelboerderij Boer Bart in Rotstergaast, just outside Heerenveen, is an organic farm run by Bartele and Rianne. Children play with water, sand and grass, race around on go-karts and trampolines, and get to help out as little farmers: collecting eggs and bottle-feeding calves. Along the Boerenpaad trail you discover farm life up close, passing the chicken caravan, the calves, the kitchen garden and a waterfall. In the thatched restaurant you look out over the farm while the children play.

Open in spring and summer, mainly Friday through Sunday in time slots (10:00-12:30 and 13:30-17:00). Booking is recommended; check the website for current times and seasonal dates.

Story
At Boer Bart, everything revolves around being outdoors and doing things yourself. No plastic theme park, but a real farm where children get busy with water, sand and grass, ride go-karts and feed calves. Parents settle in on the terrace under the thatched roof with a coffee and something tasty, while the little ones run wild.
