UNESCO World Heritage Site Kinderdijk is one of the most iconic heritage locations in the Netherlands, featuring nineteen authentic windmills that have been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1997. The windmills were built in 1738 and 1740 and form the largest concentration of historic windmills in the Netherlands.
Visitors can explore the windmills via walking paths, boat tours and mill museums, and learn how the Dutch have been draining the land for centuries. The site is managed by Stichting Werelderfgoed Kinderdijk, a non-profit organisation.
