Clear your kitchen counter completely. Wipe it down. This is your canvas now.

0Suggestie: Remove everything , even the things that 'live' there. Start blank.

Stand in your kitchen with your eyes closed for one minute. Listen to the room. The hum of the fridge. The silence underneath.

Choose one meal you want to make. Something with at least 5 ingredients that requires chopping, stirring, and waiting. Write the ingredients on a piece of paper , not your phone.

0Suggestie: A simple soup, a risotto, or a curry works beautifully. Nothing that needs a recipe video.

Go to a local market or grocery store. Walk slowly through the aisles. Pick up each ingredient with both hands. Smell the herbs before you bag them.

Your nearest local market15Suggestie: Leave your headphones at home. This is part of the meditation.

Back home. Lay out all your ingredients on the cleared counter. Look at them. These raw things are about to become a meal through your hands.

Begin chopping. Focus on the sound of the knife on the board. The smell released with each cut. The changing texture under your fingers. No rushing.

Suggestie: If you notice your mind wandering to tasks or screens, gently return to the sound of the knife.

There's a point where the onions start to turn golden and the kitchen fills with warmth. You didn't plan this , you just showed up and it happened.

Stir slowly. Taste with a wooden spoon. Adjust. Trust your senses over the recipe. Add more salt if it needs it. More time if it asks for it.

Suggestie: Cooking without a timer teaches you to pay attention instead of waiting.
pauze

While the food simmers, sit nearby. Don't check your phone. Just wait with the food. Smell the steam. Watch the bubbles.

Plate your meal with care. Not Instagram-care, but respect-care. Sit at a table , not the couch. Eat the first three bites in complete silence.

Suggestie: Notice the temperature, the texture, the way your body receives it.

The kitchen became my dojo today. Every chop was a meditation bell. I didn't need an app or a cushion , just a cutting board and a carrot.

Wash every dish by hand. Feel the warm water. This is the closing ceremony.

Suggestie: Resist the urge to 'save it for later.' Completion is part of presence.

  • Tell your household you'll be offline in the kitchen for 90 minutes.
  • If you find yourself reaching for your phone, place it in another room.
  • Morning or early afternoon works best , you have more presence before screen fatigue sets in.
