The car turns into Jan Thiel and the light is different from home: lower, more orange, with salt air mixed in. At Villa Casa Blanca you drop the bags in the hallway, someone kicks off their shoes and walks straight through to the terrace. The pool sits there quietly, the water beckons, and within ten minutes the first dive is done. Nobody feels like cooking.
The evening stays simple: bread and cheese from the cooler bag, a bottle of wine, the terrace lights on at the big dining table. You do one more walk through the villa, pick a bedroom, hunt for the power outlets. Wifi code in the group chat. A quick round of everyone: what do you want to see, do, taste this week. Then silence, crickets, and the first real night here.

- Turn the AC on only half an hour before bed, otherwise it gets too cold.
- Place a small grocery order right after arrival for the first morning.
- Keep mosquito spray handy on the terrace, especially around dusk.

- Fold empty cooler bags flat and tuck them in a cupboard, not left lying around.
