On Curacao the sun sets early, around half past six, and the last hour turns the bay from orange to pink. From Villa Casa Blanca it's a fifteen-minute walk to one of the beach bars above Jan Thielbaai. Order a mojito or an Aperol, grab a table with a view of the water and leave your watch in your bag.
The sun drops faster than you think. Within twenty minutes the whole bay is on fire. Then comes the blue afterglow, a brief gust of wind, and the moment the lights along the boulevard come on. You keep drinking at your own pace, share a bowl of keshi and stroll back to the villa later in the fading light for a simple evening bite.

- Reserve a table with a water view, on Fridays and Saturdays it's genuinely necessary.
- Walk there and grab a taxi back, saves you from holding back on drinks.
- Bring a light jacket for after sunset, the wind can catch you off guard.
- Don't order too many heavy snacks or you won't be hungry when you get home.
- Check the sunset time for that day, on Curacao it barely shifts.
