Booking a campervan spot: which app for what
Which app you use depends on the type of spot you're looking for. Small-scale at a farm, free in nature, a commercial campsite with facilities, or a large park location. The best choice per category, plus a backup.

You don't choose a campervan spot through a single app. Every app has its own strength: small-scale or commercial, with reviews or without, free or discounted. The combination of two or three makes the difference between a spot that fits and one that just happened to be available.
For a relaxed trip with a young child, we start with Boerencamping and Staatsbosbeheer. Little crowds and plenty of space. For on the road or as a backup, Park4Night is indispensable: community reviews and lots of free spots. ACSI belongs in the mix when you're doing two or more commercial nights, because the discount card often pays for itself within a week. Pincamp gets stronger once you head towards Belgium or Germany, and Campercontact is the Dutch second opinion for reviews.
The trick: choose one main app per type of spot in advance and keep one backup open. Don't scroll through six apps at the same time, that costs you an evening.

Small-scale at farms: Boerencamping or Vekabo. Max 15 spots, often with animals and a vegetable garden. Perfect for travelling with a young child, minimal stimulation.
Free and cheap spots: Park4Night. Community app, lots of free spots in nature. Read reviews in advance, not every spot is equally quiet or safe.
Discount card Europe: ACSI. The Camping Card ACSI costs 17-25 EUR one-off and gives 18-23 EUR per night in low and mid season. June often still counts.
NL reviews: Campercontact. Dutch community with reviews per campervan spot. A good second opinion after ACSI or Pincamp.
NL campervan spots and routes: Camperstop. Dutch focus, often farm-with-field type spots. Combines spot searching with route suggestions.
Large parks EU: PiNCAMP by ADAC. Strong for larger parks in Germany and Belgium, including spots like Klein Strand in Jabbeke.
