Walk Binnenpad Giethoorn Early Morning
An hour of walking along the little bridges of the Binnenpad, before the village fills up with tourists. You start at Museum 't Olde Maat Uus and enjoy Giethoorn at its quietest.

The Binnenpad in Giethoorn is a narrow footpath along the old village canal, with more than a hundred wooden and stone bridges over side waterways. Between nine and ten o'clock the path is almost empty; after half past ten it becomes harder to get through with a pushchair. For a morning with children, setting off from Museum 't Olde Maat Uus on the north side works well.
The route runs southward past tea houses, small private bridges and little gardens jutting out over the water. Not every bridge is public; some belong to a house. Children love counting the bridges or walking across the ones where it is allowed. Halfway along there is a small playground and an ice cream shop that usually opens from eleven o'clock. An hour is plenty; from that point you walk back or hop in a boat.

Park at parkeerplaats Noord on the Beulakerweg, not in the middle of the village.
Walk to Museum 't Olde Maat Uus and start the Binnenpad heading southward from there.
Let the toddler cross every public bridge and walk back again; that is the whole outing.
Stop at the bench opposite one of the little gardens for a five-minute break.
Count the white bridges together, without wanting to know the answer yourself.
Before the village gets busy, Giethoorn is an ordinary Dutch village, not a postcard.

- Start no later than 09:30 before the pushchair crowds and the buses arrive.
- With a pushchair, only go as far as where the path gets really narrow; then turn back.
- Bring a small snack along, ice cream is not available until eleven o'clock.
- Skip a nap just before: the path keeps children on their toes.

- - Loop noordwaarts in plaats van zuidwaarts voor een rustiger eind van het pad.
