Half a day is enough to soak up the atmosphere of the Bossche Broek from the water. The nature reserve lies directly south of the fortress city and is reachable via the Dommel and the Zuid-Willemsvaart. You set off from a rental company in or just outside the city centre, usually right by the Citadel or the city harbour. From the jetty you head towards the marshland, take a loop around the reed beds and turn back along the old city wall.
Renting a motorboat for four hours typically costs between one hundred and fifty and two hundred euros, fuel included. Up to fifteen kilometres per hour no boating licence is required, so you sail without a skipper after a short briefing on the engine and the route. Watch out for the clearance of the small bridges if you take in a stretch of the Binnendieze, and always give way to commercial shipping on the Zuid-Willemsvaart.
