Walk through the Broekpolder in Vlaardingen
1 h1 stop Calm
Forests, meadows and water within walking distance of the city. Explore the Broekpolder in Vlaardingen and extend your route along the Vlaardingse Vaart.
Vlaardingen has more green space than you might expect. The Broekpolder is a vast nature reserve with forests, meadows and lakes, all just a short distance from the city. The paths are well maintained and clearly marked, so you can step straight into an afternoon of peace and quiet.
Keep your eyes open for buzzards, kingfishers and various species of duck, and in spring and autumn for a mix of deciduous and coniferous trees with wild flowers. If you want a longer walk, extend your route along the Vlaardingse Vaart, past the historic Visbank and the fourteenth-century Grote Kerk. Stick to the paths, bring water and leave nothing but footprints.
