An MVP, the most stripped-down version that still actually does something, lets you quickly test whether your idea holds water, without months of building. It's the fastest road from dream to something tangible.
You start by sharpening your core idea and taking a quick look at the market. Then you choose a platform, sketch out the design, and determine the minimum features you truly need. Next you start building, test continuously, and gather feedback from a small group of people. With that feedback you improve your MVP and work toward a launch for a wider audience.
Define your core idea: what should your app do and who is it for? Without a clear goal, everything else goes off in all directions.
Do a quick round of market research on similar apps. What do they do well, and what could be better? That's how you differentiate your MVP.
Choose a platform (web, mobile, or both), sketch out a rough design, and determine the minimum core features you need.
