Een aquarium inrichten is deels tuinieren, deels geduld oefenen, en beide zijn rustgevend. Verzamel eerst alles: een tank, filter, verlichting, verwarming, substraat, decoratie, planten, waterconditioner en natuurlijk de vissen die je later toevoegt. Spoel de tank en het materiaal met warm water zonder zeep, en leg het substraat in een lichte helling, dikker aan de achterkant.
Installeer daarna de filter, verwarming en verlichting volgens de handleiding en controleer of alles werkt; tropische vissen willen meestal water tussen 24 en 26 graden. Plant de aquariumplanten met ruimte om te groeien en zet decoratie stevig vast als schuilplaats. Vul het water voorzichtig aan, voeg conditioner toe en laat de tank minstens 24 uur draaien voor je vissen introduceert. Acclimatiseer de vissen rustig, en houd het gezond met wekelijks 10 tot 15 procent waterverversing.
