Je hoeft nergens ver heen om iets te ontdekken. De tuin, de stoeprand en het parkje om de hoek zitten vol beestjes, texturen en geluiden die kinderen normaal voorbijlopen. Geef ze een emmer, een potlood en een half uur, en de wereld wordt ineens groter.
Deze middag zet je kinderen van zes tot twaalf op ontdekkingstocht dicht bij huis. Ze zoeken kevers en lieveheersbeestjes, leggen een bladenboek aan, verzamelen kastanjes en stenen en luisteren met dichte ogen naar wat er allemaal ritselt en tjilpt. Elke stap is klein genoeg voor een spontane vijftien minuten en rijk genoeg om er een hele middag mee te vullen.

Grab a small bucket or old ice cream tub and go on a mini safari in the garden. Look for beetles, ladybirds, and woodlice, and draw your favourite find.
Suggestion: After observing the creatures, put them back where you found them.Collect different leaves from the neighbourhood and turn them into a leaf book. Compare colours, veins, and shapes and find out which tree they come from.
Search for natural treasures like chestnuts, acorns, or a beautiful stone. Together, make up a story about how that treasure ended up here.
Close your eyes and listen to all the sounds around you for a minute. Note down what you hear, from birds to rustling leaves.
