Bastionder
's-Hertogenbosch, Noord-Brabant
Dive beneath Bastion Oranje and discover how Den Bosch defended itself for centuries.
Beneath the grass of Bastion Oranje lies an underground visitor centre dedicated to the fortifications of Den Bosch. You can see the enormous cannon Stuerghewalt and follow the siege of 1629, after which you truly understand why this fortified city was so difficult to conquer. Small but surprisingly impressive, it makes a perfect stop on a walk along the city walls.
