Workum is a Hanseatic town in Súdwest-Fryslân with a direct connection to the IJsselmeer via Het Soal. Renting a sloop from the harbour costs roughly between 110 and 180 euros for four hours during the season, depending on the provider and type of boat. Along the way you pass the Workumertrekvaart, with views over meadows and the tower of the Gertrudiskerk. For half a day, a loop via Hindeloopen and back is realistic, or a trip through the Johan Frisokanaal towards the edge of the Heegermeer.
