The Sneekermeer lies in the heart of the Frisian lakes, east of Sneek and between Terhorne and Grouw. It is by far one of the most well-known sailing lakes in the Netherlands and the home of the Sneekweek. A day charter typically lasts eight hours, from 09:00 to 17:00, and costs roughly €350 to €800 for an open sailboat, valk or polyvalk, including instruction or a skipper. Fuel, life jackets and a basic briefing are usually included; lunch and drinks are not. For a bareboat charter, the rental company requires a Klein Vaarbewijs or CWO-2, or demonstrable experience.
The lake is large and open enough for solid tacking, with mooring options at Terkaple, Goingarijp and Joure. Many charter boats make a loop past the Snitser Mar, the Goingarijpsterpoelen and the Princenhof. A lunch stop at Paviljoen Sneekermeer or tying up at a small island breaks the day up nicely.

Book a day charter with a rental company in Terhorne or Grouw, choose between a bareboat with a sailing certificate or a crewed hire with a skipper, and pass on the number of people in your group.
Gather at the marina at 08:45 with a rain jacket, non-slip shoes, sunscreen and a backpack with lunch and water.
