Goat Farm Sunday in the Groene Hart
Visiting a working goat farm on a Sunday morning, tasting milk, buying cheese at the door. Two hours of driving for a different pace.

Visiting a goat farm on a Sunday morning is not a children's park trip and not agro-tourism. It's simply walking into a working farm where people milk on Sundays and sell cheese from a small wooden shed out back. The goats roam free, climb on barrels, nibble at your trousers, and the farmer's wife says something friendly but clearly has work to do.
What makes it: it wasn't set up for you. You stand in a real barn for an hour watching, you taste milk from a bucket that's just been emptied, you buy cheese that was made at eleven o'clock. On the way back you sit in the car with cheese on the back seat and the smell slowly spreads through. That is a good Sunday.

Friday or Saturday: call a goat farm in the Groene Hart to check whether they allow visitors on Sunday morning. Confirm the time.
0Sunday morning 9:30: leave with boots, cash, and a cooler bag. The petrol station on the way is not for coffee, but for cash from the ATM.
On arrival: don't ask questions straight away, just look around first. The goats roam free and walk towards you out of curiosity. Give them a moment.
Geitenhouderij Het Groene Hart, StolwijkSpend ten minutes in the barn without doing anything. The sounds are different from the city: the rattle of steel, bleating, the breathing of many animals in one space.
The farmer's wife takes five minutes to explain something, no more. She has work to do. That is not rudeness, that is the reality of a working farm. Ask a good question.
Walk over to the farm shop shed. Taste two kinds of cheese before you choose. A young one and an aged one. Buy both.
35Before you leave: ask where the best pancake house nearby is. Farmers always know, better than TripAdvisor.
0A working farm is not an amusement park and not a demonstration. It is a working place that you were just allowed to visit. The cheese on the back seat is not a souvenir, it's simply the product.

Suggestions
- Call a day ahead to check whether the farm is open. Not every Sunday is a visiting Sunday.
- Bring cash, small bills. The card reader doesn't always work in a wooden shed.
- Wear boots, not sneakers. A working farm is messy.
- Ask the farmer a question about their work. Not the standard "is it tough". Something specific (which breed, how much milk per day).
Variations
