De Broekpolder is a 400-hectare nature and recreation area on the northwest side of Vlaardingen, enclosed by the Vlaardingse Vaart and the vlieten. You can walk, cycle, mountain bike, skate, horse ride and enjoy water sports in a varied landscape of polders, forests and large lakes. Special attractions include the herd of Scottish Highlanders in the Ruigte, adventure playground het Klauterwoud and the educational archaeological site Masamuda. The area is managed by the municipality of Vlaardingen and Staatsbosbeheer, with active support from the Federatie Broekpolder.

The outdoor area is freely accessible seven days a week from sunrise to sunset. Individual facilities (such as het Klauterwoud and Infopunt Waterpoort) have their own opening times.
