Hindeloopen is situated on the IJsselmeer and is a popular starting point for sloop trips. From the harbour you can do a lovely loop in four hours past the old fishing harbour, the IJsselmeer and back via the old warehouses. You can moor at Workum, Molkwerum or a grassy bank in the Johan Frisokanaal. Keep an eye on the wind; with a westerly wind the water is calmer on the eastern side of the pier.
