Come face to face with the Maeslantkering, the mighty gatekeeper of Rotterdam.
At the Keringhuis you stand right next to the Maeslantkering, two enormous steel arms that protect Rotterdam from storm surges. Inside, scale models and films show you how the Netherlands keeps its feet dry; outside, you can walk straight to the viewpoint overlooking the Nieuwe Waterweg. In summer, there is a water playground for children.
